Being a photo-fanatic, or a “photoholic, “ as my mom calls me, I love finding the beauty all around me and capturing it on film. Here are few of my favorite photos from our recent road trip from where we live (the most northeastern tip of Texas) to as far West as you can go in Texas before ending up in Mexico.
The photos aren’t in order, but it was amazing to watch the landscape change as we made our trek.
Driving across the “ginormous” state. We left our East Texas pine trees….
We saw the trees become replaced by beautiful fields of Indian Paintbrushes and Texas Bluebonnets.
Then, the flowers morphed into fields, fields, and more fields… with the largest skies you’ve ever seen.
Seriously, a 360 degree sky… amazing!
Until we began to see mountains peeking out just under the clouds.
As the sun set, the mountains got closer and closer.
And, anyone who’s ever seen the above, there’s nothing quite like driving the Texas highways straight into an impending storm.
I have missed bluebonnets, since I hadn’t seen any since moving to the Texarkana area.
We even got to see a full arched rainbow in the rear view mirror of our truck.
These are the first views of the Mountains… the first time our kids had seen Mountains. We hope to take them to “real” mountains one day in Colorado.

Some parents cringe at the thought of long road trips with the kiddos or hotel rooms packed with a family of five, but let me just tell you that those are the moments I LIVE FOR!!!
It’s not like I don’t get irritated at times, cause I do (just ask my kids!) The earphones do help at times. :)
But, all in all, the older my kids get, and the more they develop their little personalities, the more I enjoy them.
We love taking little get-aways, making memories, making ordinary moments fun. Last weekend, we took a marathon road trip to West Texas for a job interview (that’s a whole other post… agghhh!).
We had so much fun with the kiddos. It’s like when we go out to dinner, they’re real people who feed themselves, people I enjoy. We talk and laugh and enjoy each other.
