Saw this on one of my new favorite blogs. Add http://rocksinmydryer.typepad.com/shannon/ to your list, girls! I just wanted to share because I think this is a great idea. I have tried everything and currently have a big mess... that is, for saving and storing the wonderful pieces of artwork that the kids bring home from school that I just can't bear to throw away. Read what she says on her blog about her system... seems workable. Maybe I'll try it!

This is a great idea. We do the same for family vacations...to collect ticket stubs, sea shells, brochures, etc. Then, once they get done wearing their souvenier shirts, I add them, too. Then, we'll look back and be able to gage their sizes.
ReplyDeleteAlso, another way to save keepsakes is to buy a book for grades K-8. I bought one for Carter and am hoping to do the same for the little ones. Their baby books only go to age 5 or so and then what do you do? The book I bought has a pocket envelope for each grade to hold report cards, artwork, school work, etc. On the outside of the envelope, there is a place for the child to sign his name, add notes for the year (pet's name, what they want to be when they grow up, sports stuff, etc) and also a place to paste on a school picture. Seems totally inclusive to me and I've loved it as I keep up with their baby books dilligently and then didn't know where to go next!
Love this. I'll have to try and remember it! I bought great boxes at IKEA and now I know what to do with them!
