Our church put on a “Resurrection” Kite Flying and Easter Egg Hunting event for the kiddos today.
Rylan
Bryce thinking he’s funny (and he kinda’ is!)
Jayden eating his cookie first. He said he was going to eat “backwards” , and I was pretty sure he’d eat everything, so I figured no one ever got hurt (too badly) by eating dessert first.
And, then the sugar kicked in and he thought it would be funny to sit like this for storytime. I took the picture, and then told him to take it off his head.
Bryce is growing up too much for my liking. I wish I could sloooowwww him down!
Are these kids having fun or what?
The youth minister was wrapped in a butcher paper cocoon and then changed into a butterfly to symbolize NEW LIFE in Christ!
Look at my Jayden and Rylan, so into it…
And, then the Easter Egg hunt begins.
The little girl next to Bryce above is actually in the same grade as him… isn’t that funny?
Rylan posing with his eggs. Hunting the eggs is definitely the best part of Easter Eggs!
At one point, I pointed out a pink egg to Jayden, and I know he heard me, but he passed it up. I looked in his basket, and oh, yes, not a one pink egg. Typical.
And, let the kite flying begin.
We’ve never flown kites with the kids before. It was interesting to see their little personalities come out as they tried something new.
Bryce was very determined, but also very easily frustrated. He cries easily (I wonder where he gets that?) and got there a few times out of frustration. He got mad at me, too because he didn’t think I was helping him enough. But, he tried flying his kite lots of different ways, and finally got pretty good at it. How’s that for some old-fashioned fun! A little tears and determination must have been worth it, because he raved later about how much fun he had!
Then, there’s Jayden. I tried to be equitable since Daddy wasn’t there yet, but when I tried to help him, he told me he was fine doing it by himself, and he was! He had it down! Fun, fun, fun!
And, last but not least, Rylan was just having the best time of his life. He was pretty successful with the kite flying, and loved every minute, whether he was being helped or doing it on his own.
See Jayden’s kite? I’d say he was doing pretty well all on his own!
And, there goes Bryce’s kite.
What we’re celebrating -
Daddy got there after the Lady Hornets softball game…
Once Dan was there, I tried to get a pic with each of my fellows.
I had some crazy hair from all the wind.
Happy Spring! Happy Easter – Thank you, God for the newness!

Fun! Looks like a nice Saturday too :)
