Our August 14th “baby”, Jayden just finished his second round of Kindergarten, which we deemed “Super Kindergarten!” Well, actually we got it from an episode of the tv show, King of Queens. As an elementary teacher, I am a big proponent of giving kids an extra year in elementary school if there’s any doubt in your mind that your child may not be ready for the next grade. Jayden’s teacher from his first year of K thought he was ready for first grade, but we knew we’d always question ourselves if we didn’t give him that extra year. What a difference a year makes. Our most reserved child was not reading last year, but this year he is reading everything around and is so much more confident as he enters first grade.

Daddy shopped with Jayden for his clothes for the big day!
Jayden does not really seem to enjoy being on stage. He looked very uncomfortable up there.

Finally Jayden worked up the nerve to take a picture with Mrs. Harris. At every school event, I would ask him to take a picture with her, but he was too shy. We can’t wait to meet her new baby girl, due in July! One time towards the end of the year, I asked Jayden if her belly was getting big, and he said, “Yes, she has a WHOLE baby in there now!”
My big boy!
Kindergarten graduation was priceless. While we waited for our sweet babies to sing for us and get their diplomas, they played “Let Them Be Little” in the auditorium, and then our babies sang an awesome version of New York, New York with the words, I want to be a part of it: First Grade, First Grade. I loved it! They sang a few other songs, and then walked the stage and shook hands and received their diplomas. So precious!
